Matthew Anchel explores gender identity, self-love through self-expression, and embracing all the different facets of our unique selves.
Matthew Anchel has been called “a voice to watch” by the Wall Street Journal. Has worked at Oper Stuttgart, Glyndebourne Festival, Metropolitan Opera, LA Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Oper Leipzig, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Spoleto Festival, Carnegie Hall to name a few. Future engagements include his debut as Banquo in Verdi’s Macbeth with Stadttheater Giessen, Sarastro in The Magic Flute with Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck, a return to Staatsoper Stuttgart and performances of the Mozart Requiem with Stiftskirche Stuttgart. Mr. Anchel also has a large voice studio working with performers on Broadway, in major opera houses around the world as well as singer-songwriters, and actors. When he is not teaching and singing opera he can be found on TikTok (with 850,000 followers), performing in Cabaret Venues, writing original music, creating music videos, and working with Tracy Cox on their web series Angry Fat People.
